FAMILY STORY TIME!!! This is all new knowledge to me with pictures I have never seen before today. I’m so happy to share the details of my family that relates to bass fishing (hear me out). My 3x great grandparents settled a farm in northern Michigan in the mid 1800s. This would be where my grandfather, Floyd, was born in 1933. I always thought the farm was 50 miles east, BUT IT TURNS OUT, their homestead was a lot closer. In fact, it was a few minutes away from the boat ramps between two of my favorite lakes. I wonder if they ever swam there or harvested fish from the same waters I would later go on to bang a crankabait or stroke a football jig offshore on rock piles generations later. Photos 2 and 6 were taken in 1897. Photo 4 may have been 1940. Photo 8 was taken in 1985 of my 4x great grandmother, Elizabeth. She was born on Grindstone island in upstate NY on the St Lawrence River (AKA smallmouth bass fishing heaven). When she was born in 1818, it was a gray zone whether or not the island was USA or Canada. Maybe this is all just crazy coincidental- OR PERHAPS, like many things in my life, it all connects back to the water.
